Cross Water Outfitters

Crossing Many Waters and Representing the Cross of Christ

  • Team,
This is the first formal communication for our upcoming Warrior Transition Unit event. Please read the information below carefully.

    What: Crosswater Outfitters w/WTU
    When: April 5-7, 2019
Where: Belton Lake Outdoor Recreation Area (BLORA) - Lake Belton

    Event Schedule:

The first draft of the event schedule is attached. Note that the welcome briefing for CWO staff will begin at 10:30 followed by the Salt Covenant and then lunch.

    Immediate Needs:

Please review the information below and pay specific attention to the following:
Ensure that, if you need lodging, that you notify Rick (
Ensure that, if you must arrive late, that this is communicated.
Note that we still have need of leaders for some activities.
Note that I will be out of town next week with no cell phone or internet. This is important because if you don’t coordinate with Rick directly (See above) you WILL NOT HAVE LODGING! I will return on 3/26/19 and will send out the second email then.
Please respond to this email and detail whether or not you will attend, as well as whether you will be bringing a boat.
    Arrival Notes:

You may arrive at BLORA any time on Friday and launch your boat. Lodging will be in the onsite trailers and assignments will be announced at the Captain’s briefing.

Friday, 10:30 AM – Initial briefing followed immediately by the Salt Covenant
Friday, Noon – Soldiers and families may begin arriving. Please have your boat in the water, jugs ready, and clean/pressed CWO Team shirt on.

From Killeen: Take FM 439 east about 12 miles to Sparta Road and turn left. From there, watch for the BLORA signs - they are fairly prominent. BLORA will be on your right about 4 miles down as you traverse Sparta Road.

From Burnet: Take US 281N to Lampasas, then US 190E to Nolanville. In Nolanville, exit at TX-439 Spur/Nolanville. From there, you need to do some maneuvering:

Merge onto S Central Texas Expy
Turn left onto N Main St
Turn left onto W Avenue I
Turn right onto 439 Spur/Farm to Market Spur 439
Slight right toward FM 439 E
Turn right onto FM 439 E

Alternatively, you could take US 190 all the way to Loop 121, then turn left at Sparta Road, at Belton High School.

I’m presuming everyone else knows how to get there from Temple, Belton, or the greater Austin area. If not, please let me know.
Will come in a later email or at the Captain’s Briefing
As before, there is no dock at BLORA, so boats will need to be beached when parking. Please make allowances for this and bring a T-post if you have one. There is no electricity available at the docking site.
Bait should be moving up shallow by the time of this event. Captains are responsible for ensuring their boat has enough to run jugs. If you need assistance with bait, please reach out to one of us and let us know.

    Distribution of this Email:
It’s possible that I have left folks off who need to be on here. If that is the case, please forward to anyone missing and have them contact me with –
    -Email address

If you would like to stop receiving these emails, please respond and let me know. I will remove you from my contact list.

Please be in prayer for this event and let me know if you have any questions.

Eliot Nixon, our Crosswater Rep from Burnet ( and organizer of the Bridges event each year) was rear ended by a large truck going 70 +. The force caused his seat to break off and hurled him thru the windshield some 350 feet and he hit a telephone pole along the way. He has broken back, concussion etc and is thanking the Lord he is alive. He will be house bound for months and is quite bored.

Would you all consider sending him an email once in awhile over the next few months or mail a card of encouragement

A brother in need - he would really appreciate hearing from us all
